Course Title: Beginner Spanish
Dates: September 30th to December 4th  , 10 weeks

Description of Class: The main objective of the class is to learn and encourage the appreciation of the Spanish language and the cultures of Latin America. Students will be able to develop basic language skills through fun and interactive lessons and extra curricular activities in the community. Upon completion students should be able hold an informal conversation, give a brief introductory presentation about themselves, understand vocabulary and basic verb conjugations, and be familiar with Latin American cultures. Who should take this class? Adults who are interested in the language and cultural aspects of Latin America, people who have never taken Spanish or want to get back their basic language skills!

Course Title: Spanish for Nonprofit Professionals in Human Services
Date: 8 Fridays (October 17th –December 5th )
Time: 9:00AM-12PM

Location: Latin American Coalition, 4949-B Albemarle Rd, Charlotte, NC.
Description:  This course focuses on language for common situations encountered by nonprofit professionals in the human service field.  By way of introduction, the first section of this course is a contextualizing overview of the human services sector in Latin America, including its origins, role, characteristics, and comparison to U.S. human services nonprofit organizations. This course provides students with practical communication skills and a broad range of vocabulary related to the human services sector.  Students will feel comfortable communicating information for daily work routines in ways linguistically and culturally sensitive.  Pronunciation and grammar are also addressed.  Class presentations, discussions, and supplementary readings will be in both Spanish and English. Who should take this course? This course is designed for anyone seeking a position in the nonprofit human services sector, or the professional already working in a career as a social worker, case manager, community advocate, or front-line staff in human service organizations.  Students should have intermediate reading and speaking skills in Spanish to enroll.
